Two Americans killed; Saddam proud of resistance operations
Iraq-USA, Military, 7/24/2003
Two American soldiers were killed, nine wounded yesterday in two separate operations by the Iraqi resistance, at a time when the occupation forces announced the detention of the leader of the Iraqi Republican Guard, Barazan Abdul Ghafour Suleimman Majeid al-Takriti.
Meantime, Saddam Hussein announced in a voice tape broadcast by al-Arabia TV recorded on July 20 that the "battle has not ended yet." Saddam explained that when the enemy officially announced that the battle has not ended, this is a "precise description" of the situation, in remarks to a statement made by the commander o the American central forces Gen. John Abizaid on that there is a guerilla war taking place against the American forces in Iraq.
He continued "if they had destroyed heavy and mid-size weapons, they will not be able to take our will to fight.. the will of the people, the armed forces and the military and political leaderships will not be subjugated." It seemed that the message which is the fourth since the collapse of Baghdad is basically addressed to the Iraqi army and its affiliated groups. In the recording phrases like "our brave armed forces," " the national security men" and "brave army" were stated.
Meanwhile, an American military spokesman said that one American soldier was killed in an explosive to the west of Baghdad near al-Ramadi city and this was two hours after another American soldier was killed in a bomb explosion near al-Musil. The American army explained that two soldiers were also wounded in al-Ramadi attack while other 7 were wounded in al-Musil operation.
On the other hand, the occupation army said that Barazan al-Takriti was arrested yesterday. His name is among the 55 Iraqis named as most wanted, stressing that Saddam Hussein remains "the first target."
The commander of the American forces in Iraq Gen. Sanchez said in a press conference "this morning we have arrested number 11" on the list of most wanted.
In a statement, the Central American leadership explained that the detained person is the commander of the special Republican Guards, Barazan Abdul Ghafour Suleimman Majeid al-Takriti. Earlier the central leadership announced the killing or surrender of 36 persons of the 55- member list.
