A paper for Jalabi criticizes the UAE
Iraq-United Arab Emirates, Politics, 7/23/2003

Al-Mu'yamar ( conference ) paper, the mouthpiece of the Iraqi National Congress party which is led by Ahmed Chalabi yesterday criticized the United Arab Emirates over its consent to receive members of the former Iraqi regime on its territory.

The paper quoted via a source in the conference as saying that "the position of the UAE is in opposition of the ambitions of the Iraqi people." The source questioned "how the leaders of the UAE justify the existence of members of the former Iraqi regime and hundreds of former army officers in the army and the intelligence in the UAE while they are wanted before the justice."

The source spoke of the asylum granted to Saddam's wife and her three daughters and their children.

The paper said that "the committee in charge of defending the Iraqi people" called all members of the Iraqi people to take part in a peaceful demonstration next Friday morning in front of the UAE embassy in protest of "flagrant intervention acts in the internal Iraqi affairs." The paper quoted the spokesman for the committee as saying that "the UAE which used to support the regime of Saddam Hussein with billions of dollars and improve its ugly image in Arab and international conferences, pretends of providing support for the Iraqi people, but actually works against its real interest."
