American academician and Syria
Syria-USA, Politics, 7/23/2003

American Academician, Andreas Strandberg has stressed that the Syrian stance towards the Palestinian cause and the Arab- Israeli struggle have a wide and popular support inside Syria and in the whole Arab states.

In an article issued yesterday by UAE al-Itihad newspaper, he called for the resumption of the negotiations on the Syrian track, giving Syria a role in the peace process and abandoning the policy of threatening Syria because American threats will never compel it to change its firm principles.

He added that Syria is committed to the realization of the just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East in line with the United Nations relevant resolutions stipulating the ensurance of the Arab rights and the restoration of the occupied Arab lands.

He asserted that the Syrian reforms are a natural product of the internal work agenda and has nothing to do with foreign pressure.
