Gulf products expo opens in Casablanca
Morocco-Gulf, Economics, 7/23/2003
The first Gulf Industries and Products Exhibition opened Monday in Casablanca in the presence of Moroccan external trade minister, Mustapha Mechahouri, and UAE minister of economy and trade, Cheikh Fahem Ben Soltane Al Kacemi
The event aims to consolidate relations between private enterprises of the Gulf and Morocco, especially since the volume of exchanges between Morocco and member-countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has significantly increased from US $884 in 2002. He added that Morocco imported a total of US 817$ and exported US $67 million worth of goods and services.
After recalling the measures adopted by the government to upgrade the national economy, Mechahouri urged Arab countries to further increase inter-Arab trade exchanges through the mobilization of new technologies, dialogue and encounters among Arab economic operators.
For his part, the chairman of the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) chambers union highlighted the importance of the exhibition in the prospect of creating an Arab free trade area, calling Arab businessmen to seize this opportunity to promote economic cooperation between them.
Food products, electricity, electronic and construction equipment will be showcased in the exposition that will last until July 24.
