Morocco's El Guerrouj gets palestinian sports reporters' merit medal

Moroccan athlete, triple world champ, Hicham El Guerrouj, was awarded the Palestinian sports reports union's merit medal, in recognition of his "lofty stances."

The medal was handed to El Guerrouj, 1,500 m record holder, by chairman of the union, Tissir Jaber who expressed the pride of Arabs, and particularly the Palestinians, for the El Guerrouj victories.

He hoped that conditions will improve in Palestine in order to hold a ceremony to pay tribute to the Moroccan athlete who while receiving in Monaco the world's best athlete prize expressed his support to the Palestinian, Afghan and Iraqi children.

El Guerrouj, who was also extended by the sports development committee of the Palestinian city of Jenin a merit prize, hoped he would achieve other international prowess and that Palestinians will soon be able to participate in regional and international contests.
