Al-Assad confers with Spanish economy minister

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received yesterday the Spanish Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, Rodrigo Rato and an accompanying delegation.
Rato handed President al-Assad a letter from the Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar connected with bilateral relations between the two countries and the current regional and international issues.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the situation in Iraq and the Middle East peace process.
The two sides discussed the economic and tourist relations between Syria and Spain and means of enhancing them.
Talks also dealt with the Syrian-European partnership and the technical obstacles facing it.
