Al-Ahram: Omran outlines Syria's policy in interview with al-Ahram

Syria's Information Minister Adnan Omran has stressed that Syria is a central part in the stability balance of the Middle East.
In a statement to the Egyptian daily al-Ahram newspaper published today, Omran said that President Bashar al-Assad has stabilized, since he took the responsibility, the transparency basis which has been implemented in information domain through broadening access rights to citizens.
He made it clear that the citizen's right of knowledge could be achieved only through the increasing liberty margin which local media witness, but also through the citizen's inspection of all media and different opinions.
He added that the permission of issuing new private newspapers came in the line and framework of the modernization march under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad. This step which is based on modernizing the notions and developing the performance.
He concluded that the Information Ministry is currently working on a big project to develop the information field adding that there is a project for modernizing the broadcast and T.V. stations in addition to the development in training the information personnel.
