Abul Ragheb to form a new government in Jordan

The Jordanian prime minister Ali Abul Ragheb has submitted his government's resignation to King Abdullah II, who was assigned for form a new government.
The resignation of the Jordanian government which was formed in June 2000, came following the recent parliamentary elections. Independents who were close to the authority won the majority of seats at the new parliament which is composed of 110 seats, while Islamists won 17 seats and the Left won only few seats.
Worthy mentioning that the legislative elections in Jordan has this time won special importance because it was the first to be held under the rule of King Abdullah II. It also came after the absence of the Islamic movement which preferred to boycott the elections of 1997.
