Iraqi police detains al-Jazira correspondent in al-Ramadi

The Iraqi police have arrested the correspondent of al-Jazira TV in al-Ramadi together with a photographer and a driver working for al-Jazira office in the city. The police accused the correspondent of provoking violence.

Al-Jazira correspondent in Baghdad said that conditions were intensified with the police because of al-Jazira covering of Iraqi resistance news against occupation, noting that at the ultimate end the Iraqi police is commanded by the American occupation authority.

The correspondent explained that despite the fact that other satellites stations also cover resistance operations news, al-Jazira is the first to have access to the incident. A matter which caused tension for the occupation forces.

The correspondent indicated that the occupation forces accuse all al-Jazira correspondents of bias because of covering the incidents on the ground and transferring what eye witnesses say, neutrally.

Later in the day, the Iraqi police released the correspondent and his aids after they were held for hours on Thursday morning and after al-Ramadi judge refused to accuse him of collaborating with the Iraqi resistance.

Worthy mentioning the American forces bombarded al-Jazira office in Baghdad, just one day before the occupation of Baghdad on April 9th and this resulted in killing al-Jazira correspondent Tareq Ayoub and wounding the photographer at the office.
