Al-Shara confers with De Mello

Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara received yesterday in Damascus the United Nations envoy in Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello on the latest development in Iraq particularly after the forming of the transitional governing council.
Talks also dealt with the role of the UN to maintain the unity and integrity of the Iraqi territories and to enable the Iraqi people to choose their own government.
