Syrian - Greek parliamentary relations

Syria's Deputy Parliament Speaker, Mohammed Isam al-Jamal, pointed out to Syria's principled stance towards all regional and international causes stressing Syria's commitment to just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the international resolutions, "land for peace formula" and "Madrid terms of reference."
During his meeting in Damascus on Sunday with Secretary General of the Greek Communist Party, Elika Paprika, and an accompanying delegation, al-Jamal reviewed the situation on the regional and international arenas as well as bilateral relations between Syria and Greece.
Talks also touched upon the Israeli aggression and occupation of the Arab territories in addition to the Iraqi people suffering in light of the foreign occupation.
Al-Jamal stressed the necessity of all sides commitment to the international community resolutions represented by the United Nations.
He expressed the Parliament's desire to develop the parliamentarian relations with the Greek Parliament.
For her part, Paprika underlined the Greek Communist Party support to the Arab causes, Arab nation's struggle for the restoration of her rights and to the Palestinian cause.
Paprika condemned the Israeli practices and aggressions against the citizens of the occupied Arab territories.
Meantime, Syria's Assistant Secretary General of the Baath Arab Socialist Party Abdullah al-Ahmar and Secretary General of the Greek Communist Party Elika Paprika signed in Damascus yesterday a cooperation agreement.
The two sides expressed desire to "activate their cooperation and develop it in the interest of their two countries and joint aims in rejecting all aspects of unilateralism, aggression, occupation, hegemony, and war," official Syrian news agency said.
The two sides expressed desire in the establishment of justice and equality in the international relations and in boosting the UN role in solving international problems.
