Ending mission of Syrian ambassador in Washington, Wahba transferred to Geneva
Syria-USA, Politics, 7/14/2003
Syria's President Bashar al-Assad issued a decree for ending the mission of Syria's ambassador in the USA, Rostoum al-Zouibi, and no alternative was appointed to succeed him so far.
His deputy, Imad Mustafa ( one of the candidates for this post ) is assigned to run the affairs of this post until a decision is made to this effect to appointing a new ambassador.
This decision was taken, against the background of other decisions to transfer the Syria's representative at the UN Security Council Mikhael Wahba, to preside over the Syrian diplomatic mission in the second headquarters of the organization in Geneva. His deputy Faisal Miqdad will succeed him.
Just recently Tawfiq Salloum was appointed Syria's ambassador to Belgium. President al-Assad also took a decision ending the mission of the Syrian ambassador to Malaysia Kamal Sharaf. No reason were given for justifying this decision.
