Angolan fisheries minister calls Moroccan operators to invest in his country
Morocco-Angola, Politics, 7/11/2003

Angolan minister of fisheries, Salamao Jos? Luheto Xirimbimbi, called on Wednesday Moroccan businessmen operating in the field to invest in Angola and transfer their know-how and capital to the South African country.

Speaking at a meeting with executives of Morocco's employers federation (CGEM), Luheto Xirimbimbi, underscored the "climate of social stability and cohesion" Angola is enjoying, after years of civil war, and called Morocco to join in the Angola reconstruction effort.

Angola has finally turned the page of war, he said, adding that peace is reestablished and ethnic and social conflicts are no longer justified.

He also pleaded for promotion of bilateral trade which, he said, remains beyond the excellent political ties.

The official underlined the importance of the framework agreement to be signed between the two countries Thursday for the exchange business missions to better prospect investment opportunities, particularly in fisheries.

"Through this agreement, Angola will profit from Morocco's expertise mainly in scientific research, technicians and cadres training and satellite surveillance," he said.

The Angolan minister, whose visit will last through July 11, also met head of the National Fisheries Office, Mohammed Tarmidi. He had earlier met his peer, Tayeb Ghafes, and visited the National Institute of Sea Research (INRH) and the port of Agadir.
