Director general of the JordanŐs state security court Col. Mahmoud Obeidat has denied the existence of an armed organization on trial in Jordan, stressing that persons who were arrested are but a group under formation but has not reached the level of an organization.
In a statement issued yesterday by the Saudi daily al-Riyadh, the Jordanian official said that the formation of the group was just an idea and in its beginning, stressing that its objective is to strike the American interests in Jordan.
Concerning the fact that there are Saudi Arabian citizens among members of the group, Obeidat said there are four Saudis and that one of them was arrested while the other three are considered on the run, noting that he has uncertain information stating that two of the fleeing men are members in the Saudi security forces.
Obeidat also stressed that there is no relations between the detainees and al-Qaida organization, noting that they are a group of persons who agreed on a certain objective.
Jordanian security sources unveiled that a group of 11 persons were arrested while other 4 were considered as on the run, and they were accused of conspiring for conducting terrorist acts and having explosives, illegally.
