CIA former director and Israel Nuclear weapons
Israel-USA, Politics, 7/9/2003
The former Director of the American Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, Stansfield Turner called for putting the Israeli nuclear arsenal under the international supervision and to put pressure Israel to disarm its nuclear weapons.
In a lecture at Zayed Center for Coordination and Follow-Up, Turner recognized that the international investigators should have been granted enough time in Iraq, and that the Iraqi weapons were not an imminent danger to the United States.
Turner saw that the American policy in the Middle East as being at a crossroad and it is not clear whether the U.S. is able to rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan or is able to form democratic government in the two countries.
He pointed out that the American foreign and internal policies are devoted to the next presidential election and that Bush will not press Israel on peace in the Middle East particularly on the Palestinian track asserting that what Bush is going to do is to call Israel to implement the roadmap.
