Two American soldiers, one British wounded in two attacks in Iraq
Iraq-USA, Military, 7/9/2003

An officer in the US army said that two American soldiers were slightly wounded in an explosion that inflected damage in their vehicles at the outskirts of Baghdad. The army officer who was talking from the explosion site said that an explosive went off on the highway linking Baghdad and Baghdad's International airport.

Earlier in the day, the British defense ministry said that one British soldier was injured in an attack by a sniper against soldiers in southern Iraq. A spokeswoman for the ministry said that Iraqi gunmen opened fire at a vehicle for the British army while performing routine operations in the northern outskirts of Basra.

Worthy mentioning that 6 police members of the royal military police were killed in June during clashes with an Iraqi crowd in an area 160 Km to the north of Basra.

On the other hand, the director of the regional services at the Iraqi reconstruction efforts, headed by Paul Bremer said that acts of destruction which target electrical networks and oil pipelines in Iraq are increasing. An occupation official urged the Iraqi citizens to hand over what he described as "trouble makers."
