Moroccan-British ties upgrading, UK ambassador
Morocco-UK, Politics, 7/8/2003

Moroccan-British relations are upgrading, with Morocco becoming Britain's third largest partner in North Africa and the Middle East, British Ambassador to Morocco, Hadon Boyd Warren Gash, said.

The diplomat, who was interviewed by the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat daily, said he will fly to London this week to prepare for the visit to Morocco of British ministers and senior officials next fall.

Warren Gash also touched on the Sahara issue, noting that his country backs the efforts made by James Baker, Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General, to settle the problem.

There is a growing awareness at the U.N that the conflict has lasted too long and should be settled, he said, adding the U.N is making great financial efforts. He stressed the need to reach a solution acceptable to all parties.
