Football: Hassania Agadir win Morocco's league for second time
Morocco, Sports, 7/8/2003
Hassania Club of Agadir on Sunday won the Moroccan football league for the second time in a row, toppling such prestigious teams as RAJA and WYDAD Casablanca.
Suspense prevailed until the very last minutes of Sunday's final round of the Moroccan league.
RAJA Casablanca were on the point to bag the title, when they were leading Kawkab of Marrakesh 2-1 in Casablanca. However, a goal netted by the Marrakesh team five minutes from the final whistle pulled the rug from underneath RAJA's feet and offered the title to Hassania.
A draw against Wydad was enough for Hassania to be proclaimed champion of Morocco.
The agadir team and RAJA Casablanca will defend Morocco's colors in next year's African Champions League. WYDAD, which came third, and CODM Meknes, fourth, will vie for the Arab Cup of Champion Clubs.
