Two Americans killed, four wounded in Iraqi attacks

Iraqi resistance continued operations against the American occupation forces and killed during in 24 hours two Americans and wounded other 4, at a time when Baghdad's municipal council held its first meetings in the presence of the US administrator of Iraq Paul Bremer.
An American army officer said that Iraqi resistance threw yesterday a mortar at an US military procession in al- Kazemeyah area to the north of Baghdad and this resulted in killing one American soldier.
In a the same context, a statement by the occupation army said that gunmen fired shells at an American military group in al-Azameyah quarters in Baghdad on Sunday followed by clashes the resulted in killing one American. The statement said one Iraqi was killed in the fight while two Americans were wounded.
An American military spokesman said that four American soldiers were injured on Sunday evening in al-Ramadi in an attack launched by 6 Iraqi resistance fighters.
Despite the continued daily attacks, Gen. Tommy Francs who finished his post yesterday as a chairman for the Central US leadership that time is not ripe to sending additional forces to Iraq. He added "what we want to do is to achieve security through working with the Iraqis inside Iraq." Francs explained that the war in Iraq has not finished yet, stressing that the American forces in this country are still in the "attacking" phase.
Meantime, al-Najaf municipality council, which was elected recently held its first meeting yesterday in the presence of all its 22 members and thereby al-Najaf will be under the control of three commissions: the municipal council, the office of the governor and the trials.
The council, which was elected two weeks ago, represents vocational societies, federations and parties and "al-Hawza al-Elmeyah" ( Scientific center: the reference for the Shiite ).
