Al-Assad- Mubarak for end of occuation in Palestine and Iraq

A joint press statement was issued at the end of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's visit to Cairo. It says: In line with the brotherly invitation of President Hosni Mubarak, President Bashar al-Assad paid yesterday a short visit to Cairo.
The two presidents continued discussing the Arab strategic issues at this important turning point in order to activate the Arab joint action and strengthening the Arabs capacity in facing the standing challenges.
The two presidents discussed the situation in Iraq stressing the importance of ending the occupation of the Iraqi territories and that the Iraqi people bear their responsibility towards their national process.
They also discussed the situation in the Palestinian territories. They agreed on the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and enabling the Palestinians to establish their independent state.
They also called on the Quartet international committee to exert efforts to achieve progress on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks in order to achieve just and comprehensive peace.
The two presidents agreed on continuing consultation and coordination to enhance the Arab joint action.
They also exchanged views on the presented ideas to develop the Arab League in a way that supports the Arab ability facing the standing challenges.
Al-Assad returned home today after paying a short visit to Cairo.
