Syria-European Union, Economics, 7/5/2003
Chairman of the State Planning Commission, and head of the Syrian side to the talks with the European side, Tawfeek Ismail announced that the first session of technical talks which was held yesterday led to the formation of a unified vision between the two sides on the issues of their agenda.
In a statement to SANA correspondent in Brussels yesterday, Ismail indicated that the European side proposed a formula for trade exchange and this needs further consultation except for the formula connected with the intellectual property rights which gained immediate approval because it is in concord with the Syrian legislation.
The issue of the intellectual property rights are connected with intellectual production in agriculture, industry and marketing.
The two-day negotiations of the Syrian side with the European Union were in preparation for the next 11th round of talks with the European Union scheduled to be held in Brussels later.
