More individuals before court in connection with Casablanca blasts

Twelve individuals appeared Monday before the public prosecutor of the Rabat court of appeal part of the probe in the terrorist attacks perpetrated last May 16 in Casablanca.

The group is sued for conspiracy, terrorist acts, attempt to persons' life and security, holding firearms, making of explosives and collect and management of funds to finance terrorist acts, the public prosecutor, Lahcen Laoufi, said.

Investigation showed that the suspects, who are followers of the Salafya Jihadya group, propagated extremist ideas calling for violence, Laoufi said, adding some members of the group were planning to attack security agents and take hold of their arms to use them in terrorist acts.

Scores of individuals have been arrested part of the probe Moroccan authorities have been conducting since May 16 when a spate of terrorist attacks rocked Casablanca, killing 44 people, including the suicide bombers.
