Syrian- Saudi agricultural cooperation

Syria's Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Nour Eddine Mona, And Saudi delegation of agriculture headed by, Rashed Bin Abdul Aziz Khader yesterday in Damascus discussed means of boosting cooperation in the field of agriculture.

Mona briefed the delegation on the agricultural situation in Syria and governmental support for this sector.

He also discussed with the delegation the issue of halting the import process of AWAS sheep which were affected by foot and mouth disease, stressing that the government dealt with this problem and took all needed measures to control it.

He asserted the importance of cooperation between the two states for eliminating diseases in the two sectors of animals and plants.

At the end of the meeting he stressed the necessity for activating the deliberations of the Syrian-Saudi committee and for putting an active program for boosting relations of cooperation and encouraging exchanging expertise in the interest of both countries.

For his part, Khader commended the Syrian measures concerning this issue and Syria's care and support to these sectors.
