Key issues on Egypt-US cooperation tackled

A high-ranking delegation led by President Hosni Mubarak's Political Advisor Osama al-Baz and Gamal Mubarak, Chairman of the National Democratic Party's Political Committee has concluded a tour to the US early this week during which three lengthy sessions of talks were held with a number of high-ranking American officials on the regional and international situation as well as means of activating partnership and bolstering bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The six-day visit covered the two sides' views on issues of the Arab-Israeli conflict and means of coordinating efforts on reconstructing Iraq and the private sector's role in this effect. Both sides also reviewed the current political, economic and social reforms in Egypt.
The two sides called on bolstring joint cooperation in the field of telecommunications and IT via benefiting from the American experience in this field, besides means of activating joint trade and investment projects as well as pushing forward the implementation of the Egypt-US free trade area.
The Egyptian delegation also visited the Chicago bourse to get acquainted with the latest developments in the international bourses and means of transferring the sophisticated technology in developing Egypt's cotton bourse. Discussions also reviewed means of upgrading the human resources in the economic, trade and administrative domains in a bid to cope with the international economic changes.
