World Child Day celebrated

Syria's Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Ghada Al-Jabi opened in Damascus yesterday the central rally held on the occasion of World Child Day. Al-Jabi underlined that Syria is one of the first countries who ratified the Child Rights Agreement.
She pointed out to the attention paid by late President Hafez al-Assad to childhood and has been pursued by President Bashar al-Assad.
The minister indicated the cooperation and coordination between the ministry and regional and international organizations involved in childhood care which include training courses aimed at extending help to children who require special needs.
Representative of the UNICEF Bureau in Damascus Mohammed al-Alami delivered a speech stressing that celebrating the World Child Day indicates the world leaders commitment to childhood.
Another speech was delivered by Mrs. Marica Busman on behalf of the Saeed Rida Karim Beneficiary Establishment during which she reviewed the establishment' activities, programs, and training sessions on children.
She pointed out to the scholarships granted by the establishment to students from Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, and Iraq.
