Libyan, Italian agreement on fighting illegal immigrants

Italy's minister of the interior Giuseppe Pisanu said yesterday that Rome and Italy have agreed to take a series of tangible measures aiming at halting the arrival of illegal immigrants to the Italian coasts.
The Italian minister said before the parliament that Italy and Libya agreed to work together for fighting the illegal immigration trade from countries situated in the North of Africa.
Thousands of immigrants arrived in Sicily island in the past weeks while hundreds of them are believed to have drowned in the Mediterranean because of ships accidents. It is believed that most of the boats that transported them came from ports in Libya and Tunisia.
