Rector of Damascus University, Hani Murtada, met yesterday in Damascus Chairman of the South Institution in Spain, Maria Josepa Lesitros. The meeting dealt with the standing relations of cooperation between the Syrian and the Spanish universities and means of boosting them.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of establishing a Spanish department at Damascus University.

They also discussed projects of cooperation between Damascus university and the European Group through Tempus International Program for Scientific, Academic and Cultural training, which finances scientific and research projects in Syria such as the project of establishing a Tourism Faculty at Damascus University.

Murtada stressed the importance of the scientific relations and cooperation between Damascus University and the Spanish ones and their role in boosting the standing relations between the two countries.

For her part, Lesitros expressed the Institution and the European Group's readiness to present scientific and cultural aid to Damascus university and other scientific institutions in Syria due to Syria's status in Europe and Spain.
