Baz calls for swift implementation of Middle East peace plan
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 6/23/2003

Egypt's Presidential Political Adviser Osama Al-Baz yesterday left for New York for an official visit to the US.

In pre-departure statements, Al-Baz called for Israeli public opinion to be positively directed towards restoring calm ahead of implementing the US-backed 'roadmap' for peace in the Middle East.

Al-Baz warned of serious consequences for the peace process unless the international peace formula is swiftly carried out.

He urged the Israeli government to realize that responding with the establishment of a Palestinian State would end the cycle of violence.

President Hosni Mubarak's Adviser said that this opportunity will not come again for many years.

Al-Baz denied reports that Palestinian factions would be meeting in Cairo adding that all such meetings held in the occupied Palestinian and close to events there.

He also dismissed claims that his trip to the US is in preparation for President Mubarak's forth coming visit..
