UN facts finding commission delegation in Syria on Israeli practices

The Deputy Foreign Minister Walid al-Mu'allim late Friday received the delegation of the special committee concerned in investigating the Israeli practices violating the human rights of the Arab citizens in the occupied Arab territories.

Present in the meeting were the Director of International Organizations and Conferences Administration at the Foreign Ministry Bashar al-Jaafari and the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Damascus Toufiq Bin Amara.

The Deputy Minister welcomed the visiting delegation asserting the continuation of Syria's cooperation with the committee and support to ensure her success in the mission regarding disclosing to the world community the truth about the Israeli practices, which are in violation of human rights in the occupied Syrian Golan.

The delegation expressed their gratitude to the Syrian government for the current cooperation between Syria and the UN organization. The delegation asserted the necessity for the continuation of the committee's work until Israel implements the international resolutions and withdraws from the occupied Arab territories including the occupied Syrian Golan.

The special committee's delegation is due to visit Quneitra to be briefed on the oppressive Israeli practices against the Syrian citizens in the occupied Syrian Golan, which have been affecting all aspects of life. Meanwhile, director of organizations and international conferences at the Foreign Ministry, Bashar Jaafari, read the statement of the Syrian Arab Republic before the committee concerned with investigating in Israeli practises against the Palestinian people in the occupied Arab lands which is visiting Syria at present led by the permanent delegate of Sri Lanka at the UN Mahand Raya.

The statement highly commended the efforts which have been exerted by the Committee over the past 35 years. The Committee disclosed the "savage Israeli practises exercised against the Palestinian people and the people of the Golan." The statement stressed Syria's continuation and cooperation for the General Assembly`s resolution to allow for the Committee to visit the occupied Golan to be acquainted with Israeli oppressive practises against the Golan citizens.
