Yemeni president on European tour; police chasing three fleeing Saudis

A Yemeni official in Sanaa said that the Yemeni police is chasing three Saudi Arabian citizens, the Saudi authorities say they sneaked to Yemen after they had helped a drug trafficker flee from a prison in Najran area, southern Saudi Arabia.
The "September 26" weekly issued by the Yemeni defense ministry quoted the official who was not identified that the "security department are now carrying out search operations for three Saudis believed to have sneaked into the Yemeni territories during the two past days."
The paper said that the three persons are wanted by the Saudi authorities which notified Yemen of their escape to its territories and asked for their detention and handing them over. The sources added that the fleeing Saudi prisoner is considered one of the most dangerous drug traders in Saudi Arabia.
On the other hand, the Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh will during the few coming days hold a European tour covering Germany and France during which he will hold with each of the German president and the German chancellor and the French president talks, pertaining to relations between Yemen and each of Germany, and France and areas of joint cooperation and means of strengthening them.
"September 26" paper said that President Ali Abdullah Saleh talks in Germany will also cover several regional and international developments of mutual concern. During his visit to France, President Saleh will discuss with the French President Jacque Chirac several issues relating to cooperation relations between the two countries and means of boosting them as well as several regional and international issues. The paper added that President Saleh's talks with the German and French leaderships during his visit will also include cooperation between Yemen and the two said countries in the area of terrorism fighting, the Middle East peace process, the situations in the occupied Palestinian territories and conditions in Iraq.
