Al-Anbaa: Pentagon develops Fox base on the Kuwaiti- Iraqi borders to include 20,000 soldiers
Iraq-USA, Politics, 6/21/2003

The Kuwaiti daily al-Anbaa said that the US defense department allotted 300 million dollars to develop the Fox base at the Kuwaiti- Iraqi borders with the aim to lessen its military presence in Iraq.

In yesterday's issue, the paper quoted well-informed sources at the US Department Of State that the base which was used by the British forces along the past years is able to accommodate some 20,000 soldiers, however, the operation of developing it by the US defense department will increase its current accommodation capacity of this base which adjoins the southern borders of Iraq.

The sources indicated that Washington is working to replace its presence in Iraq by expanding its bases in Kuwait and Turkey and this is a result of the continued deterioration of the security condition in Iraq.
