Amman to host Economic Davos summit
Regional-Jordan, Local, 6/21/2003

Deliberations of the world Economic Forum Davos starts today in the Jordanian Red Sea area with the participation of 1900 officials representing the private and public sectors under strong security measures.

Security forces were deployed in all parts of Amman, while the Red Sea area where the deliberations of the forum's meetings were blocked for three running days.

In a message he addressed yesterday to the participants in the Forum, King Abdullah II of Jordan said that he hopes to re-concentrate efforts in the world towards peace, especially that the forum will be held at a critical time for the Middle East and the world.

The Jordanian King, who patrons the works of this Forum said in his message that it is ripe time to give the region an opportunity for social and economic development to contribute positively to world stability.

Presidents of Germany, Austria, Malta, and Afghanistan as well as several foreign ministers from various parts of the world are taking part in the forum.
