Quartet to discuss including Syria, Lebanon in Roadmap
Regional-Russia, Politics, 6/20/2003

The special Russian envoy to the Middle East Andre Vidovin said that the Quartet committee which will be meeting at the ministerial level in Jordan on June 22 will discuss the issue of including Syria and Lebanon in the Roadmap to peace.

In a statement to the Russian News agency Itar- Tass yesterday in Beirut, Vidovin said it is important not to forget that there are other two tracks for the peace process, they are Syria and Lebanon. Vidovin explained that adding these two tracks to the Roadmap will give comprehensivity to the settlement in the region on the ground of the recognized international law, otherwise the settlement will be incomplete.

Vidovin explained that Russia has been always defending the comprehensive position to solving the Arab- Israeli conflict, noting that the main task lies in spreading stability between the Palestinians and the Israelis on the principles set by the Roadmap to peace.
