Mahfouz Nahnah dies at 62

Chairman of the Algerian peace society movement Mahfouz nahnah has died at 62 following a several months fight against cancer.

Mahfouz Nahnah is considered one of the cofounders of the contemporary political Islamic movement in Algeria. He practiced in secret and then open political activity which rejects violence.

Nahnah founded the Islamic society movement party which had changed its name to the Peace society movement.

Worthy mentioning that great differences took place between Nahnah and the Islamic front for Salvation and other Islamic movements because of his persistence to reject violence against the Algerian authorities and his participation in governments which were persistent to refuse participation in the Islamic front led by Abbas Madani in the Algerian political scene.
