Russian envoy confers with Lebanese figures on developments

Russian Envoy to the Middle East Andre Vidovin stressed yesterday in Beirut the importance of intensifying diplomatic and political efforts to include the Syrian and the Lebanese tracks for peace in the region.
In a speech following his discussion with Lebanese President Emil Lahoud, Prime Minister Rafic Hariri and Foreign Minister Jean Obeid, he stressed the importance of the Syrian and the Lebanese role in reaching a solution in the region.
He also asserted the importance of the commitment to the international resolutions and Madrid reference during the meetings of the international Quartet-committee next Sunday in Jordan.
For his part Obeid stressed his country's adherence to the just and comprehensive peace and to deepen the Syrian- Lebanese understanding on all levels in order to face current challenges.
