Al-Assad meets with French intellectual, chief of Syrian- American club

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received in Damascus yesterday Chairman of the Arab World Institute in Paris, Denis Bauchard.
The meeting was attended by the French Ambassador in Damascus Jan Francoise Jero.
President al-Assad was handed a letter from his French Counterpart Jacques Chirac on the cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Bauchard expressed high appreciation over Syria's participation in the cultural activities stressing Syria's active cultural role as a founding member at the Arab World Institute. The two sides agreed on intensifying meetings and activities.
Later on, President al-Assad received chairman and members of the Syrian- American Club in California.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the club efforts to establish permanent relations between the Syrian community in America and their motherland, Syria.
Talks also dealt with encouraging businessmen to invest and exchange trade with Syria, and informing Americans of Syria's culture and history.
President al-Assad praised the club's intention to communicate with their motherland, and expressed Syria's readiness to receive the Syrian immigrants with open arms, and to offer every assistance and facilities.
