Senegal to host festival of sacred dances with support of Fez
Morocco-Senegal, Culture, 6/17/2003
Senegal will hold in 2004 a festival of sacred dances in Thies (70 Km east of Dakar) with the support of Fez (Morocco) that recently organized the sacred music festival, Senegalese premier, Idrissa Seck announced Sunday in Paris.
Seck said he would like Thies to be a rendez-vous like Fez underlining that he believes that the festival held in the Moroccan city this June 6-14 was "a real feast."
The festival of sacred dances will include therapeutic and initiation dances, noted the head of the Senegalese government who represented President Abdoulaye Wade in the festival of sacred music of Fez.
"Fez has shown the openness and tolerance of Islam," said Seck, adding that he attended the performances of great musicians during the festival.
