Ras al-Kheima crown prince in Oman
United Arab Emirates-Oman, Politics, 6/17/2003
Well-informed sources said yesterday that the removed crown prince of Ras al-Kheima Khaled Bin Saqer al-Qasimi had left for Oman.
The sources added that Khaled left Ras al-Kheima yesterday at dawn heading for Muscat following a telephone call he received from Oman's Sultan Qaboos bin Said. The sources said Sultan Qaboos was expected to be in Ras al-Kheima on Sunday but the "developments of events pushed towards hosting Khaled in the Sultanate for several days in order to hold brotherly talks aiming at maintaining matters and returning them to normalcy, especially after appointing one of his brothers instead of him (as crown prince)."
The sources did not rule out that the travel of Khaled came at a decision by Ras al-Kheima authorities after his resistance to decision to make this change.
An official UAE source said that "he ( Khaled) is free to travel wherever he wants.. It is an internal matter in Ras al-Kheima. "
