Syrian - UAE talks to encourage investments
Syria-United Arab Emirates, Economics, 6/16/2003

A delegation representing the Syrian Chamber of Commerce headed by its Chairman Ratib al-Shallah discussed in Dubai with Dubai chamber of commerce and industry ways of developing trade exchange between Syria and the UAE and encouraging mutual investments.

Al-Shallah stressed the importance of the economic reform policy in Syria and the procedures that are being taken to encourage the private sector, pointing out to the latest opening of private banks in Syria that work in line with the national interest.

For his part, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Majed Shamsi called the Syrian businessmen to intensify their participation at the international exhibitions in Dubai and the Arab Gulf region.

The trade volume between Syria and the UAE is 122 million (UAE Durham).
