People's Assembly's special session on the Cabinet's policy and agenda

Syria's People's Assembly marked yesterday the 3rd anniversary of the demise of the late Syrian President Hafez al-Assad. In its session headed by the People's Assembly, Speaker Naji Otari, and with the attendance of Prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro, Otari delivered a speech to the Assembly's members where he said that "on the 3rd anniversary of the moving away of the late President Hafez al-Assad, we highly appreciate our great leader's distinguished characteristics."

"He made large achievements and victories to Syrian peoples. He brought to us stability, security, values and principles which made Syria the steadfastness Castle to all Arabs..The great leader, through the Correctionist movement, has been able to unify the hearts and achieve the political multiplicity."

Miro briefed the Parliament on the Cabinet's internal and external policy and the work agenda. He said that the institutional view of President Bashar al-Assad, his inclination to modernization and development formed the starting point which Syria has worked through.

Syria achieved important steps in the domains of law, administration, legislation, economy, financing and banking.

He added that "president Bashar al-Assad's speech to the Parliament when opening the 8th Legislative session has been a work program and a complete vision the Cabinet aims to implement. This speech included valuable thoughts about the modernization, development, freedom and democracy."

Miro briefed the People's Assembly with the Cabinet's external policy where he stressed that Syria continuously works to achieve Arab solidarity. he said Syria "is still adhering to Arab League Convention. Syria stresses the deeply distinguished ties with Lebanon and with All Arab countries."

Concerning Iraq, Miro underlined Syria's full support to end the U.S occupation, maintaining its sovereignty and dignity. He viewed "the difficult conditions the region is passing through because of the continued Israeli occupation to the Arab territories and because of the Israeli massacres perpetrated against our people in Palestine."

He renewed Syria's adherence to "just and comprehensive peace that is based on the U.N resolutions that oblige the full withdrawal of Israel from all Arab occupied territories."
