Smaha underlines Syrian- Lebanese call for resumption ME peace process
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 6/14/2003
Lebanon's minister of information Michael Smaha has stressed the Syrian and Lebanese call for resuming the peace process in order to reach a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
In a Press meeting in Beirut yesterday, he asserted that "fighting the Zionist terrorism requires the establishment of the just and comprehensive peace that ensures security, stability and development in the region."
He also pointed out that "Zionists are the ones behind (promoting the US congressional) 'Syrian accountability act' because it serves the Israeli expansionist interests in the rejoin."
He asserted that only Syria and Lebanon have the right to decide concerning the issue of the Syrian presence in Lebanon, calling for dealing with the Lebanese national issues in a rational way.
He also held the Israeli occupation the responsibility for terrorism stressing that "Zionism is a terrorist entity which practices the acts of killing against the Palestinian people and rejects to commit itself to the international law."
