Moroccan-Kuwaiti cooperation commission opens meeting in Rabat
Kuwait-Morocco, Politics, 6/13/2003
The Moroccan-Kuwaiti High Joint Commission opened in Rabat Thursday its second session to study means to upgrade economic and commercial exchanges between the two Arab states
The meeting -- co-chaired by Moroccan Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister, Mohamed Benaissa, and Kuwaiti peer, Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah --is seen as a new step towards stronger ties between Morocco and Kuwait.
Opening the meeting, Benaissa invited Kuwaiti private operators to accompany efforts made by the two governments to upgrade cooperation and seize advantages offered by Morocco to foreign investors.
Al-Sabah lauded the level of cooperation between the two states as evidenced by the role played, in this connection, by Kuwaiti institutions such as the Kuwaiti Fund for Economic Development, which has contributed to 27 development projects in Morocco since 1966 at an amount of 9.4 billion dirhams, nearly US$ 940 million.
The Kuwaiti official, however, deplored that partnership between the two states' private sectors remain short of the bilateral ties.
