Funeral for the remains of a Kuwaiti prisoner in Iraq
Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 6/11/2003

A funeral was held yesterday for the remains of what Kuwait said was a Kuwaiti prisoner Saad Mashaal Aswad al-Anzi which was found in one of the mass graves in southern Iraq. Al-Anzi was one of the prisoners Kuwait used to demand the former Iraqi regime to have back.

The Kuwaiti news agency said that the general administration for the Kuwaiti criminal department recognized the remains of the prisoner after the analysis of genetic items brought from a mass grave in al-Samawa area to the south of Baghdad.

The analysis showed that he was assassinated by a shot to his head two years after his kidnapping. The funeral ceremony was attended by the Kuwaiti deputy premier and minister of the interior Sheikh Muhammad al-Sabah and large number of citizens.

The Kuwaiti sides concerned are making efforts to know the fate of more than 600 Kuwait prisoners who were kidnapped during the invasion of Iraq.
