Algeria: release of main figure in Tansiqat al-Oroush

The Algerian radio said that Bal'eed Abarbaka, the main figure in Tansiqat al-Oroush which leads a protest movement on the situation of al-Qabayel area was released yesterday following 8 months of his detention in Teizi Ozo prison.
Abarbaka was arrested on October 13, 2002 where he entered the court of the capital of the greater al-Qabayel area in protest to the arrest of 13 young persons during a demonstration. He had been waiting for his trial since then. He was released temporarily together with other 14 representatives from Tansiqat al-Oroush on Monday and Tuesday in Bajaya ( 260 Km to the East of Algiers ), 8 in al-Bweira, Two in Tezi Ozo.
The radio added that the representatives will be tried on September 22. This step falls in the course of "calming down measures" by the authorities in order to open a dialogue between the government and Tansiqat al-Oroush for finding out a solution for the crisis of al-Qabayel area erupted since two years.
