Regional, Politics, 6/11/2003
Arab Follow up Committee held in Manama yesterday a meeting on the Foreign Ministers' level with the participation of Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara.
Foreign Ministers pointed out that the Palestinian people's sufferings increase due to the Israeli escalated terrorist operations and the Israeli siege imposed on the people who always seek to build their independent state.
They also supported the realization of the just and comprehensive peace based on Beirut Arab peace initiative.
Concerning this issue, al-Shara stressed that any peace process should ensure the Palestinian refugees' right to return to their homeland in line with the United Nations' resolutions.
Regarding Iraq, the ministers expressed concern over the situation there asserting the necessity for ending the occupation and for forming a national government that represents all the levels of the society and preserves its unity and sovereignty.
They also discussed the Arab joint work asserting the necessity for developing it on all levels and for activating the role of the Arab League.
