Iraq-Jordan, Economics, 6/10/2003

Jordanian and Iraqi businessmen in Amman yesterday signed an agreement to strengthen trade exchange between the two states which were damaged because of the war in Iraq.

The Jordanian News agency Petra said that the agreement states to "found a joint business council with the aim of enhancing direct relations between business people in the two countries." According to the agency, the agreement aims at " acquainting the Iraqi and Jordanian businessmen with opportunities of investment and trade exchange between the two countries to eliminate obstacles impeding the implementation of bilateral investment projects and trade exchanges."

The agreement was signed by the chairman of the Jordanian businessmen society Hamdi al-Tabba', and the chairman of the Iraqi Businessmen society Thamer al-Sheikhali, currently visiting Jordan on top of a delegation representing Iraqi business people.
