Syrian- Jordanian agreement on al-Wahda dam project

Syrian side headed by Deputy Irrigation Minister, Mohammad Adnan Merza and Jordanian sides headed by Secretary General of Jordanian Valley Authority, Mohammad Dafer Al-Alem signed on Sunday a minute of the meetings of the Syrian-Jordanian joint committee of Al-Yarmouk.

Both sides expressed relief over the progress in Alwahda dam project in accordance with the appointed timetable.

They decided to issue special cards entitling Syrian and Jordanian workers and members of the committee to enter Syria and Jordan during the period of implementing the project.

Adopting special procedures for preventing pollution of Wadi Al-Yarmouk water and the continuation of cooperation between Syrian and Jordanian sides in the field of combating pollution were also decided.

Order of beginning the work in project of Al-wahda dam was given last month. The Jordanian 61 million Dinar al-wahda dam project is due to be completed in 30 months.
