Lahoud confers with Italian FM

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud stressed yesterday that any settlement to the Middle East question that leaves out Syria and Lebanon won't be comprehensive. It won't guarantee regional stability.
Following his talks with Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini, whose country will take over the rotating of European Union presidency next month, Lahoud said that Lebanon who adhered to peace sees that it is necessary for the Quartet Committee sides to prevent Israel from breaking the international will.
For his part, Frattini stressed his country's adherence to peace process that should include the whole region.
He added that this peace should be just and comprehensive and should include Syria and Lebanon because the stability and economic development will serve the interests of everyone.
He said that Italy will convey proposals of the Middle East states regarding just peace and stability in the region to the European Council meeting due to be held in the current month.
Frattini also met with Lebanese Deputy of Parliament Speaker, Eli Al-Ferzli for talks on peace process in the Middle East who said must include Syria and Lebanon and the European Union role in peace process.
