Court postpones journalist case

The court of Appeal of Rabat on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the case involving journalist, Ali Lamrabet, who was sentenced last May 21 to 4 years in prison and a fine of 20,000 DH (US$ 2,000). The court rejected a request of the defense for the temporary release of the accused.
Lamrabat, editor and director of "Demain Magazine" was sentenced on the grounds of slander of the King's person and offense against Morocco's territorial integrity and sacred values.
The court also ordered the banning of the two satirical publications, and applied Article 400 of the penal law that allows the imprisonment and the arrest of the accused.
