Morocco-Ivory Coast, Politics, 6/7/2003
Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohammed Benaissa, held talks in Rabat on Friday with Ivoirian secretary of state and foreign minister, Bamba Mamadou.
During the meeting, the Ivoirian FM handed his Moroccan peer a message from President Laurent Gbagbo of Cote d'Ivoire to king Mohammed VI.
Benaissa told MAP the meeting focused on bilateral relations, the situation in West Africa in general and Cote d'Ivoire in particular.
The two ministers agreed to hold the Morocco-Ivoirian high joint committee in Morocco next fall.
Also, Ivoirian minister of technical and vocational training, Youssouf Soumahoro, said on Friday his country wants to benefit from Moroccan experience and expertise in vocational training.
Soumahoro, who held a work session with Morocco's ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire, Hassan Bennani, said Morocco can contribute to the development of technical education and vocational training in Cote d'Ivoire.
Many Ivoirian students, he went on, are studying in training centers in Morocco, "and they are satisfied with the quality of education they receive."
Soumahoro said he wants a national craftsmanship and fisheries center recently created in his country to benefit from the experience of Moroccan supervisors and experts.
On his part, the Moroccan diplomat voiced the kingdom's readiness to assist Cote d'Ivoire's development efforts, stressing that relations between the two countries are based on partnership that encourages technology transfer and expertise trading.
